Hello, and welcome to our website. I am Gillian Harris - author of "Complete Feltmaking", owner of The Fluff-a-torium in Dorking (and Master Fluff-a-tier!) and and MD of Gilliangladrag Ltd. I used to be a very busy graphic designer working in the tv and video industry until I had my second daughter in 1998 and jubilantly announced that "enough was enough". Not long after that, Gilliangladrag was established.
With my family's roots in tailoring and the rag trade, I was very pleased to then have the opportunity to pursue my love of textiles (loud cheer) and shortly afterwards fell head over heels into feltmaking, - amongst other textile based stuff, which then led to obessing about feltmaking, people glazing over when I talked to them about feltmaking, teaching lots of feltmaking courses, and getting up to all sorts of felting shenanigans.
My triumphant felting book "Complete Feltmaking" was published in 2006, and if you haven't got a copy yet, then we suggest that you should probably get one! (We ship worldwide :-) Apart from our terribly British edition, it is published in the USA too, and has also been translated into German, Spanish and Finnish! (But if you need to read it in one of those languages you probably won't understand this paragraph...) My new book "Carnival of Felting" was published in April 2012
I live in Capel, Surrey with my very understanding unfelted husband, gorgeous two daughters, and Betty the dog. Last year I moved our flourishing felting business to it's new headquarters at "The Fluff-a-torium" in Dorking. Which quite frankly has been fantastic, and the family are now finding a lot less fluff in their dinner.
Having persuaded the likes of Liberty, Hobbycraft and over 85 other independent retailers to sell our fantastic feltmaking kits, myself and some other very important Fluff-a-tiers are now happily operating our felting kingdom from Dorking and selling all manner of wondrous fluffy things such as merino wool tops for felting and Gilliangladrag kits and kntting yarns, in between teaching and doing our very best to be rather inspirational. We look forward to your visit at our shop, but if you live too far away, then your virtual visit to this website is still very much valued, and we look forward to shipping our fluffy wares direct to your front door.
