A fabulous new Machine Embroidery course with Linda Miller: "A Picture of Machine Embroidered Stitches"
Discover how to use a sewing machine as a drawing and painting tool and experience the delight of sewing to create a picture taken from your own original idea.
Bring with you a photograph, picture or drawing which inspires you and translate it into a ‘picture of stitches’.
Working with a sumptuous array of threads in exciting colours and textures you will learn how to place imagery, how to create a background and foreground and how to finish off your machine embroidery picture to its full and deserved potential.
This workshop is suitable for the beginner or more experienced stitcher.
Maximum 8 places available on this course. Your sewing machine will be supplied for you to use for the day!
Since graduating from Winchester School of Art in 1989 Linda has been a full-time maker specialising in Machine embroidery. From her Eastleigh studio she makes one-off machine embroidery pieces depicting domestic scenes in colourful settings. Linda exhibits throughout Europe and has pieces held in collections at the V&A and in the USA. Her book; Creative Machine Embroidery was published in 2010. She has featured on the Sky TV series Talking Threads & appeared in Channel 4’s Kirstie’s Handmade Britain and in 2017 Linda was awarded a Talent Development Grant in conjunction with Eastleigh Borough Council, Arts Council England and ‘a space’ arts.
Linda holds machine embroidery workshops for the Embroiderers’ Guild, stitch enthusiast groups and nervous individuals. She enjoys teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for textiles and her love of Machine Embroidery.

Booking a place on one of our courses is similar to booking a seat on a plane. It is not possible to swap and cancel and the "the plane must take off!"
Therefore should you need to cancel your place on a course for any reason, the cancellation charges are as follows:
Cancellation within 31+ days of course date = 50% of course fee payable unless place is re-filled.
Cancellation within 0-30 days of course date = 100% of course fee payable unless place is re-filled.
(Sometimes courses are over subscribed so we hold a waiting list and MAY be able to re-fill a place, but if you are unable to attend you are welcome to send someone in your place. Please let us know your replacement's name, phone number and email address as soon as possible before the course date.)
