Big yarn, big needles, quick results. That’s the joy of Rico Essentials Super Super Chunky! This wonderfully thick yarn is made from a soft blend of 50% virgin wool and 50% acrylic, giving you plenty of woolly warmth without the price tag getting too chunky.

Nougat is a lovely, soft neutral that will sit beautifully alongside all sorts of colours. It's the sort of shade that works brilliantly on its own for a calm, cosy project, or makes a useful partner for brighter colours when you're in the mood for a bit more colour action.

With 100g and 90 metres per ball, this is a super chunky yarn that grows quickly on 10-12mm needles or hooks, so you won't be waiting until next Christmas to see your project take shape. The recommended tension is 9 stitches and 12 rows to 10cm. Rico recommends it particularly for knitting and crochet accessories, and it's also a great choice for big, cosy garments and quick projects where you want plenty of squish without hundreds of hours of making.

We think it's especially good for those "I want to make something, and I want to make it NOW" projects. Hats, cowls, scarves, oversized jumpers and snuggly accessories all become pleasingly speedy affairs with 10mm needles in your hands.

The yarn is made in Italy and is mulesing-free. It's hand wash only, so give your finished make a little gentle treatment when it needs a clean.
