There are some colours that make a yarn feel even cosier, and Terracotta is definitely one of them. Warm, earthy and wonderfully autumnal, this is a shade that looks right at home in a chunky cable, a softly textured cardigan or a lovely everyday jumper.

Alpaca Softness, Everyday Wearability

Rico Luxury Alpaca Superfine Aran is made from 63% alpaca and 37% polyamide, bringing together the gorgeous softness and warmth of alpaca with the added strength and durability of polyamide. The result is a beautifully soft yarn that's lovely to wear and a pleasure to knit or crochet.

At aran weight, it's wonderfully versatile and works on 5-6mm needles, making it suitable for all sorts of garments and accessories. Each 50g ball contains 140 metres, so there's plenty of yarn packed into each little ball. The recommended tension is 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm.

Terracotta 036 - Warm and Wonderful

Terracotta is one of those colours that plays nicely with just about everything. Pair it with creams and natural shades for a soft, earthy palette, contrast it with deep greens and blues, or throw it into a brighter colour combination for something a little more lively.

With its soft handle and lovely warmth, this is a particularly tempting yarn for jumpers, cardigans, scarves and hats - basically anything you fancy wearing when there's a nip in the air.

For a size 40 garment, Rico recommends approximately 450g, although the amount needed will vary according to the pattern, size and your individual tension.
