The Ridge Sweater Pattern 2507-08 by Sandnes is one for anyone who likes their knitting with a bit of texture and plenty of colour possibilities. Worked from the top down, this soft and cosy sweater combines Peer Gynt with fluffy Ballerina Chunky Mohair to create a beautiful textured pattern with a wonderfully striking effect.

The main sweater is knitted in Peer Gynt, while the patterned sections use Ballerina Chunky Mohair held double. The fluffy mohair sits beautifully against the more structured wool, making the texture really pop and giving the finished sweater that lovely combination of warmth, softness and visual interest.

We particularly like this pattern for playing around with colour. Sandnes gives colour suggestions, but there’s absolutely nothing to stop you putting together your own combination - think contrasting mohair, tonal shades or something a little more unexpected. This is the sort of project where choosing your colours is almost as much fun as knitting it.

The sweater is worked from the neck down, with raglan increases shaping the yoke before the stitches are divided for the sleeves, back and front. The neckband is worked at the end. You’ll need 3.5mm and 4mm knitting needles, with a tension of 20 stitches = 10cm.

The quantities above are based on the specified finished measurements. If you want to make your sweater longer, remember that you may need extra yarn.
