We've put together this Knitting Kit Pack with the required amount of gorgeous Sandnes Ballerina Chunky Mohair for your chosen size, so you simply choose your colour, choose your size and we'll sort the yarn.

The Rookie Sweater is designed with beginners in mind and is worked from the top down in a single strand of Ballerina Chunky Mohair. It's a raglan sweater knitted on large needles, so it grows surprisingly quickly. In other words, plenty of jumper satisfaction without signing yourself up for a six-month knitting marathon.

Choose from three gorgeous colour options: Vintage Gold, Pale Pink or Pale Aqua. Ballerina Chunky Mohair makes a wonderfully soft and lightweight sweater with that gorgeous fluffy mohair halo, while the chunky weight and larger needles mean your knitting grows quickly.

The sweater starts at the neck, with the yoke worked back and forth while you make the raglan increases and shape the neckline. Once that's done, you join the work and continue in the round with the raglan increases before separating the sleeves and body. The neckband is worked at the end. It's a straightforward construction that gives you the satisfaction of making a proper hand-knitted jumper while keeping the knitting beautifully manageable.

And because it's worked from the top down, you can adjust the length to suit you. Just bear in mind that if you make the sweater longer than the measurements given below, you'll need some extra yarn.

Sandnes recommends taking your own measurements before choosing a size. The measurements above are the finished garment measurements, calculated according to the specified knitting tension, so don't simply choose your usual clothing size. Have a look at the finished bust measurement and think about how much ease you'd like in your sweater before selecting your kit size.

Needles required: 6mm and 7mm circular needles in 40cm and 80cm lengths, plus 6mm and 7mm DPNs. The stated tension is 13 stitches = 10cm on 7mm needles.
