Who will be teaching me?

You will be taught by either Hilary Charlesworth - as featured on TV with Kirstie Allsop, OR Gillian Harris : author of "Complete Feltmaking"; Carnival of Felting";  "Felting Fabulous Flowers" and "Easy Stuff to Make with Fluff" and owner of The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium, depending on what you'd like to learn.

Who is it suitable for?

Anyone new to weaving and wanting to learn some basic techniques on a small portable loom like the one we sell here. If you are a complete beginner that's fine! If you have a much larger loom or want to learn traditional large loom weaving then please contact us before booking here! On this private sesh we will start from the very beginning! You can buy this session in chunks of 2 hours, but 2 hours would be long enough to learn some basics and get you started with a wall hanging etc. 4 hours is better for more techniques and in-depth knowledge. Adults and children over 11 only please.

Where are your Private Weaving Tuition Sessions Held?

Private Felting workshops are held 'in person' in our studio at The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium in Betchworth, Surrey UK. (There's a map at the foot of our home page!)

Is there a Virtual Digital Version available online?

If you can't travel to us for any reason, we can arrange a virtual private class held online via Zoom etc. However, you would need to purchase the equipment we would normally use in class to keep.

Dates and times

2 hour sessions are usually held on a weekday during the day - or sometimes can be arranged at weekends, although our studio gets far more booked up at weekends.

We will endeavour to find a mutually agreeable date and time asap. If we can't then we will offer you a refund. Once booked - our regular Ts and Cs apply and it's not possible to cancel within 30 days of the mutually agreed date. We will send you confirmation of this date.

NB : We can only start to arrange a date and time AFTER you have booked and paid for your private session. If for any reason we can't find you a suitable date, then we can refund you. 99% of the time we organise dates that are mutually convenient with no problem, so please don't worry! :-) xx

What if there's 2 of us that would like to learn together. Is it the same price?

No it would be 50% more for the 2nd person to cover extra costs. You can still book this session and then we can invoice you for the rest. If there are more than 2 of you then please contact us for a bespoke quote.

What if there's more than 2 of us that would like to learn together. How much is that?

We would charge £50 per extra person for the 2 hours. (Maximum 5 students with 1 teacher = 6!) You can still book this session and then we can invoice you for the rest.

How many hours would I need to book to make certain things?

2 hours is sufficient for learning the basics. You will learn how to to warp your loom and how to achieve certain patterns and effects with different types of yarn and wool tops. You will need your own loom, - or purchase one on the day. You can bring your own wool tops or yarn, or use the basic studio yarns and tops during your session, but may want to buy more afterwards to carry on using at home.

How much does it cost?

A 2 hour private Weaving session costs £100 and 4 hours is £200 and so on. This is inclusive of VAT.

What's included?

The session includes tuition for the session plus some wool to get started, but you will need your own loom and warp thread. Drinks & biscuits etc. are provided. You would also then be entitled to 10% discount in our shop "The Fluff-a-torium" on the day of your private Weaving session! Wooohoooo!
