3 hour Private Drum Carder & E-Spinner Experience: Spin 100g of Yarn! Fancy spinning your own yarn? Have you been watching videos and itching to give it a go? But perhaps you're not quite ready to invest a small fortune in a drum carder and E-spinner just yet? Then come along to our incredibly fun 3-hour session! You'll leave with 100g of your very own hand-spun yarn, created from a batt made on our wide drum carder, using all the colours you've ever dreamed of!

We've got over 70 different colours of Merino wool tops to choose from, plus Angelina glitter fibres, recycled sari silks, and other exciting fibres. The possibilities for your hand-spun yarn are endless!

Who will be teaching me?

You'll be guided by the wonderful Jackie Harman or Gillian Harris. We'll show you just how inspirational and fun it is to hand card your wool to create a fabulous, colourful 'batt' from which to spin your very own little ball of yarn! Our Ashford E-Spinner is easy to use once you get the hang of it, and we'll calmly guide you through the process, helping you spin your batt into a fabulous skein of yarn!

Who is it suitable for?

Everyone! This 3-hour private Carding & Spinning workshop experience is suitable for anyone (aged 14 and over), even if you're a complete beginner! No prior experience is needed.

Where are your Private Tuition Sessions Held?

Our private Hand Drum Carder & E-Spinning Experiences are held 'in person' in our colourful studio next to the shop at The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium in Betchworth, Surrey, UK. (You'll find a map at the bottom of our home page!)

Is there a Virtual Digital Version available online?

If you already have your own Drum Carder and E-Spinner, we can organise a virtual session! But not otherwise. Please do get in touch with us if this is something you'd be interested in.

Dates and times

These 3-hour sessions are usually held on a Monday or Friday during the day, but we can sometimes arrange another time if those days don't suit you.

We will always do our best to find a mutually agreeable date and time as soon as possible. If we can't, we will offer you a refund. Once booked, our standard Terms and Conditions apply, and it's not possible to cancel within 30 days of the mutually agreed date. We will send you confirmation of your chosen date.

What if there are two of us who would like to learn together? Is it the same price?

There's only enough time to card and spin one 100g skein of yarn during the session. However, it's absolutely fine if two of you want to come along together and share the experience, creating 50g each. We simply charge an extra 25% to cover the additional costs.

How much does it cost?

This 3-hour private Hand Drum Carder & E-Spinning Experience costs £130. This is inclusive of VAT and includes all materials.

What's included?

The session includes 3 hours of one-on-one tuition with us, using our Wide Drum Carder and E-Spinner. It also includes 100g of wool tops and other fibres that you might want to add to your yarn. You can choose ANY colours you like! We will also provide you with drinks and biscuits, etc. Plus, you'll also be entitled to a 10% discount in our shop, "The Fluff-a-torium," on the day of your private Hand Drum Carder & E-Spinning Experience!
