Fancy diving into the wonderful world of felting? Our 2-hour private felting workshop session is the perfect way to explore this tactile craft, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to hone your existing skills. We'll tailor the session to your specific needs and interests, ensuring a fun and rewarding experience.

Your Tutor: Gillian Harris

You'll be learning from none other than Gillian Harris, author of "Complete Feltmaking," "Carnival of Felting," "Felting Fabulous Flowers," and "Easy Stuff to Make with Fluff," as well as the owner of The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium. Gillian's years of experience and passion for felting shine through in her engaging teaching style.

Is it for Me?

Absolutely! Our private felting tuition is suitable for everyone, from complete novices to more experienced crafters. We'll adapt the session to your skill level and desired outcomes. Want to learn the basics? No problem! Looking to master a specific technique? We've got you covered! This is for adults and children over 11 only please.

You can book these sessions in blocks of 2 hours. So, if you are looking for a four hour class, simply order a quantity of 2!

Where Does the Magic Happen?

Our private felting workshops are held 'in person' at our charming studio, The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium, nestled in Betchworth, Surrey, UK. (You'll find a handy map at the bottom of our homepage!).

Can't Make it in Person? We Have You Covered!

If travelling isn't an option, we can arrange a virtual private class via Zoom or similar platform. You'll need to purchase the basic equipment (bamboo mat, netting, felting needles, etc.), but we'll send you all the wool required for your chosen project.

Dates and Times

2-hour sessions are usually held on weekdays during the day, but weekend appointments can sometimes be arranged. Our studio is usually busier on the weekends so weekday sessions are easier for us to fulfil.

We will always do our best to find a date and time that works for both of us as quickly as possible. Should we be unable to find a suitable time, we will offer a full refund. Once booked, our standard Terms and Conditions apply, and cancellations are not possible within 30 days of the agreed-upon date. We'll send you a confirmation of your booking as soon as the date is confirmed.

Please note: We can only start to arrange a date and time AFTER you have booked and paid for your private session. In the unlikely event that we can't find a date that suits, we will issue a full refund. Don't worry, we are successful at finding mutually convenient dates 99% of the time! xx

Learning with a Friend?

Want to learn alongside a friend? The price is 50% extra for the second person to cover the added costs. Simply book this session, and we'll invoice you for the additional amount. For groups larger than two, please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Groups: What's the Cost?

For groups larger than two, we charge £50 per extra person for the 2 hours (maximum of 5 students with 1 teacher, totalling 6!). Book this session, and we'll send you an invoice for the remaining balance.

How Long to Make…?

2 hours is usually enough time to complete ONE of the following:

• Wet Felting a small, simple flat piece of felt (e.g., a 20cm square wall hanging, a small picture, or a simple cushion front).
• Wet felting a simple flower (like a daisy).
• Needle felting a small 3D shape.
• Wet felting & Needle felting simple beads for felt jewellery.
• Patch-O-Wool Needle Felting onto clothes and up-cycling them with new designs.
• Wet Felting a Nuno or cobweb felt small sample piece to learn the technique.

4 hours should suffice for most other options, for example ONE of the following:

• Wet felting a smallish felt bag or 3D shape.
• Slippers (but you might need longer!).
• Cobweb or Nuno scarf.
• More complicated felt flower and leaves (e.g., a rose or poppy).
• A hat.
• A larger wet felted picture with needle felted details.

(Note: An extra 15-30 minute comfort break can be added to a 4-hour session if required.)

The Cost

A 2-hour private felting session costs £100, and 4 hours costs £200, and so on. This is inclusive of VAT.

What's Included?

The session includes the use of all necessary felting equipment, materials, drinks, biscuits, and course notes. Plus, you'll receive a delightful 10% discount in our shop, "The Fluff-a-torium," on the day of your private felting session! Jolly good!
