Fancy getting to grips with knitting? Our 2-hour private knitting tuition is perfect, whether you're navigating the world as a complete beginner or seeking to refine your skills.

Meet Your Knitting Teacher

You'll be guided by our wonderfully experienced knitting teacher, Jo Raffaitin. Jo has been crafting with yarn since she was knee-high to a grasshopper and is also an experienced pharmacist! She's patient and skilled, ready to help you master the art of knitting – from learning the basics to tackling socks or intricate fair-isle designs.

Who is this workshop for?

Everyone! This private session is tailored to your individual needs. Need to learn how to cast on and knit your first stitch? No problem! Want to delve into more advanced techniques like fair-isle, socks, or finishing touches? We can do that too! Book in chunks of 2 hours. So, for a 4-hour session, simply purchase a quantity of 2. Suitable for adults and children over 11.

Where Does the Magic Happen?

Our 'in person' private knitting workshops are held in our studio, conveniently located next to our shop, The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium in Betchworth, Surrey, UK. (You'll find a map at the bottom of our homepage.)

Virtual Knitting Sessions

If you can't make it to our studio, we can explore the possibility of a virtual private class via Zoom or similar platforms. Get in touch to discuss equipment requirements and arrangements.

Dates and Times

These 2-hour sessions are typically held on weekdays during the day. Weekend sessions are sometimes available, although our studio gets booked up more quickly then. We'll work with you to find a mutually agreeable date and time as soon as possible. If we can't, we'll offer a refund. Once booked, our standard terms and conditions apply, and cancellations are not possible within 30 days of the agreed date. We'll send you confirmation of your booking date.

Please note: We can only begin arranging a date and time after you've booked and paid for your private session. We're confident we can find a date that suits you, but if not, we'll provide a refund.

Learning with a Friend

If two of you would like to learn together, the price will be 50% more to cover the extra costs for the second person. Book the session, and we'll invoice you for the additional amount. For groups larger than two, please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Larger Groups

For groups of more than two, we charge £50 per additional person for the 2-hour session (maximum 5 students with 1 teacher, making a group of 6). Book the session, and we'll invoice you for the extra amount.

How Many Hours Do I Need?

2 hours is usually sufficient for learning something straightforward or tackling a specific part of a project.

4 hours is better suited for more complex techniques or projects, depending on their intricacy. Just ask us, we can advise!

The Cost

A 2-hour private knitting session is £80, and 4 hours is £160. This price includes VAT.

What's Included?

The session includes expert tuition with Jo. You'll need to purchase your own needles and yarn or bring them with you. We have plenty of lovely options in the shop, and you'll receive a 10% discount on the day of your booking. (Tape measures and scissors will be available in the studio during your session.)

We'll also provide drinks and biscuits! Plus, you'll receive a 10% discount in our shop "The Fluff-a-torium" on the day of your private knitting session!
