- 3 x 20g Superwash mini sock skeins (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon) - perfect for experimenting!
We know getting started can feel a little daunting, which is why we've included everything you need to dive straight in. The mini sock skeins are ideal for testing out different techniques and colour combinations before committing to larger projects.
The instructions cover various methods for fixing the dyes, including stovetop, microwave, and even space dyeing techniques. Heat is essential for fixing the colours and ensuring they become permanent.
Acid dyes are incredibly versatile and work beautifully on protein fibres such as wool, mohair, angora, fur, feathers, camel, silk, and nylon. You can even use white vinegar or citric acid as a fixer if you prefer!
Important Note: While these are called "Acid Dyes," they don't actually contain acid. The name refers to the mild acidic salts (or white vinegar) used as a fixative. This is a crucial step in the dyeing process, ensuring your colours are vibrant and long-lasting.
