2 hours Private Crochet Tuition: Your Personal Crochet Journey Awaits

Fancy a bit of one-on-one crochet guidance? Our 2-hour private crochet tuition is perfect whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your skills. We can tailor the session to suit your individual needs and level.

Meet Your Tutor

You'll be learning from Jo Raffaitin, our wonderfully experienced crochet teacher. Jo's been crocheting since she was a tiny tot and is incredibly patient. She'll guide you through every stitch, whether you're mastering the basics or crocheting a garment or blanket.

Who's it for?

Absolutely everyone! Whether you’re a complete beginner wanting to learn the foundational crochet stitches and create a granny square, or you're more experienced and want to tackle a complex pattern, crochet a garment, a specific blanket or even try giant jumbo crochet, this session is for you.

Need a hand getting started with a kit? A blanket kit? Or maybe some Amigurumi animals? We can help with that too! Sessions can be booked in 2-hour chunks, so book multiple sessions if you require a longer period of tuition. This is suitable for adults and children over 11.

Where Does the Magic Happen?

Our private crochet workshops are held 'in person' at our colourful studio next to The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium shop in Betchworth, Surrey. You'll find a map at the bottom of our homepage!

Can’t Make it in Person?

If you can’t travel to us, we may be able to arrange a virtual private class via Zoom. Do email us to discuss the options so we can ensure you have everything you need in advance!

Dates and Times

2-hour sessions are usually held on weekdays during the daytime, though we can sometimes arrange weekend sessions (our studio gets booked up quickly on weekends). We'll do our utmost to find a mutually convenient date and time. If we can't, we will offer you a refund. Once booked, our regular Ts and Cs apply, and cancellations aren't possible within 30 days of the agreed date. We'll send you confirmation of the date.

NB: We can only begin to arrange a date and time AFTER you've booked and paid for your session. If we can't find a suitable date for you, we'll offer a refund. We generally find a mutually convenient date without any problems, so don't worry!

Once booked - our regular Ts and Cs apply and it's not possible to cancel within 30 days of the mutually agreed date. We will send you confirmation of this date.

Learning with a Friend?

If there are two of you that want to learn together, it's 50% extra for the second person to cover additional costs. Book this session and we'll invoice you for the rest. For larger groups, see below.

Group Crochet Sessions

For groups larger than two, we charge £50 per extra person for the 2 hours (maximum 5 students with 1 teacher, making 6 total!). Book this session and we will send you an invoice for the extra places.

How Long Will I Need?

2 hours: ideal for straightforward projects and learning the basics, or for tackling a specific part of a project or starting something new.

4 hours: better suited for more complex techniques, patterns, or projects, depending on their complexity. Just ask and we can advise!

The Cost

A 2-hour private crochet session costs £80, and 4 hours is £160. Prices are inclusive of VAT.

What's Included?

The session includes one-on-one tuition with either Clare or Jo. You’ll need to purchase your own hook and yarn or bring your own. There's plenty to choose from in our shop, and you'll receive a 10% discount on the day of your booking! Tape measures and scissors will be available to use in the studio during your session.

We'll also provide drinks and biscuits. Plus, you'll get a 10% discount in our shop, "The Fluff-a-torium", on the day of your private crochet session!
