Learn to Spin Your Own Yarn on a Spinning Wheel

Have you ever looked at a gorgeous braid of unspun fibre and wondered how on earth it becomes yarn? Well, wonder no more! We invite you to join us for a wonderfully relaxing and productive day where you can Learn to Spin Yarn in the cosy surroundings of our studio. We know that learning a new craft can feel a bit daunting, which is why we keep our spinning courses incredibly small—with a maximum of just two students per session.

This means you’ll have plenty of dedicated 'Learn to Spin' time with our wonderful teacher, Roz. She is an absolute font of spinning knowledge and has a real gift for making everyone feel at ease. Roz is as friendly as she is expert, so you’ll have all the "hand-holding" and encouragement you need as you find your rhythm at the wheel.

We’ll start the day by getting to know the wool. You’ll learn all about the different fibres used for spinning and how to prepare them before they even touch the wheel. We’ll talk you through the "anatomy" of a spinning wheel and all the bits and bobs you’ll need to get started. Don’t worry about bringing a thing; we provide all the materials, and you’ll even have your very own Lendrum Spinning Wheel to use for the day. These wheels are an absolute dream to spin on-smooth, sturdy, and perfect for beginners!

Tea, cake, and plenty of "fluff"

Because we believe that making is always better with a treat in hand, your day (running from 10am to 4pm) includes plenty of drinks, biscuits, and a "terribly British" afternoon tea with cake. It’s the perfect chance to pause, chat about your progress, and soak in the creative atmosphere. By the end of the day, our goal is for you to have spun your very first small skein of handspun yarn to take home with pride!

As an extra little cherry on top, all students are entitled to a 10% discount in our adjoining shop, "The Fluff-a-torium," on the day of the course. It’s the perfect excuse to stock up on some beautiful fibres to keep the momentum going at home. Whether you’re a complete novice or have had a go but got in a bit of a tangle, we’ll make sure you leave feeling confident and inspired.

Booking a place on one of our courses is similar to booking a seat at the theatre. It is not possible to swap and cancel and the "the show must go on". Therefore should you need to cancel your place on a course for any reason, the cancellation charges are as follows: Cancellation within 28+ days of course date = 50% of course fee payable unless place is re-filled. Cancellation within 0-27 days of course date = 100% of course fee payable unless place is re-filled. Sometimes courses are over subscribed so we hold a waiting list and MAY be able to re-fill a place, but if you are unable to attend you are welcome to send someone in your place. Please let us know your replacement's name, phone number and email address as soon as possible before the course date.
