Ready to knit yourself a seriously good-looking fluffy sweater? Our Lyra Sweater Knitting Kit Pack by Sandnes takes the guesswork out of getting started. Choose your colour and size, and we'll send you the printed Lyra Sweater pattern together with the correct quantity of Sandnes Ballerina Chunky Mohair you need to make it.

Lyra is a beautifully fitted raglan sweater with a shaped neckline and wonderfully dramatic trumpet-shaped sleeves. Knitted in a single strand of Ballerina Chunky Mohair, it has that gorgeous fluffy halo, soft feel and light, cosy finish that makes mohair so irresistible.

We've put together three colourways for you to choose from: Vintage Rose 4353, the beautiful soft pink shown in the pictures; Pale Pink for an even softer, delicate look; and Pale Aqua, a fresh, pretty shade that works particularly well with the fluffy texture of the yarn.

And because we've already worked out the yarn quantities for every size, you don't have to do any knitting-kit maths yourself. Simply select your colour and size and we'll supply the appropriate number of 50g balls of Ballerina Chunky Mohair along with your pattern.

Fluffy, fitted and rather fabulous

Lyra has a lovely modern silhouette, with a more fitted shape than your average oversized jumper. The shaped neckline and raglan construction give it plenty of interest, while the trumpet-shaped sleeves add the bit we're particularly fond of - a proper fashion moment at the cuffs. If you want it less fitted check the measurements below and size up.

The pattern includes instructions for making the sweater either from the top down or from the bottom up, so you can choose the construction method you prefer. The top-down version uses raglan increases and short rows to shape the neckline, while the bottom-up version uses raglan decreases. Either way, you'll finish up with the same fitted shape and those fabulous flared sleeves.

We think it's a great project if you're ready to knit something a little more adventurous than a scarf but don't want a hugely complicated pattern. The pattern is rated Easy, and the chunky mohair means the sweater grows surprisingly quickly on the needles. In other words, there's a very good chance you'll be trying it on before you've quite finished telling everyone that you've started knitting a jumper.

Needles are not included. You will need 4.5mm knitting needles to make the sweater. The pattern allows for different needle and cable lengths depending on the construction method and your preferred way of knitting, so you can use the needles that suit you best.
