The Holiday Slipover is the perfect piece for layering. Chuck it over a long-sleeved top for a bit of extra warmth or layer it with your favourite cardigan. With its deep armholes and straightforward stockinette stitch construction, it's a satisfying knit from start to finish.

This pattern is worked from the top down. You begin with the back of the yoke, progress to the shoulders, then the front of the yoke, and finally, the body. The split rib edge, where the back section is slightly longer than the front, adds a stylish touch at the hem. To complete the look, rib edges are added to the neck and armholes, finished with an Italian cast-off for a really neat and lovely appearance.

Before you start, it's always a good idea to knit a swatch to make sure your tension matches the pattern's gauge. Remember that this pattern uses three strands of yarn held together throughout – two strands of aran weight yarn and one strand of lace weight yarn – to create that lovely chunky texture.

Size Guide: The Holiday Slipover is designed with approximately 6 cm [2¼ inches] of positive ease, meaning it's designed to be slightly larger than your chest measurement. The sizes are designed to fit a chest circumference of:

• XS: 80-85 cm [31½-33½ inches]
• S: 85-90 cm [33½-35½ inches]
• M: 90-95 cm [35½-37½ inches]
• L: 95-100 cm [37½-39½ inches]
• XL: 100-110 cm [39½-43¼ inches]
• 2XL: 110-120 cm [43¼-47¼ inches]
• 3XL: 120-130 cm [47¼-51¼ inches]
• 4XL: 130-140 cm [51¼-55 inches]
• 5XL: 140-150 cm [55-59 inches]

Measure around your bust to choose the size that fits you best. For instance, if your bust measures 90 cm [35½ inches], choose size S. The size S sweater has a bust circumference of 96 cm [37¾ inches], giving you 5 cm [2 inches] of positive ease. If you prefer a more oversized fit, simply choose a larger size.
