We truly believe that Malabrigo Mechita is in a league of its own when it comes to "squish factor." This beautiful fingering-weight yarn is a single-ply 100% Superwash Merino that feels incredibly silky and light. The "Rosalinda" shade is a masterclass in kettle-dyeing; it’s a romantic, dappled blend of pinks and soft rosy tones that give your fabric a wonderful, painterly texture. Because it’s hand-dyed in small batches, the colours have a life and "glow" to them that makes every stitch feel special.
This hand dyed yarn Mechita is the perfect companion for those projects that sit close to the skin. It’s our absolute go-to for elegant shawls, lightweight scarves, or heirloom-quality baby items. The single-ply construction means your stitches will look smooth and refined, which is exactly what you want when working on intricate lace or delicate textured patterns. It really is a joy to work with, gliding off the needles like a dream.
Authentic hand-dyed charm
We’ve rated this for all skill levels, from Beginner to Confident, because the yarn itself does so much of the hard work for you. One little tip from our studio to yours: since Malabrigo dyes these yarns in small kettle batches, no two skeins are ever exactly alike. To avoid any "pooling" and to get a really lovely, even distribution of those rosy tones, we recommend alternating between two balls of yarn every couple of rows.
It’s also surprisingly practical! Being a superwash wool, it can handle a gentle, cold machine wash - just remember to skip the tumble dryer and let it dry flat to keep that beautiful shape. Each 100g skein packs a generous 384 metres, so a little goes a long way. Just be sure to snag enough for your whole project at once so we can pick out the best match for you from our current stock!
