Newsom Cardigan Pattern

Newsom is a delightful and lightweight cardigan pattern that utilises mitered shaping for a touch of the unusual. It’s a project that blends playful design with a simple, clean, and ultimately wearable style. We think you'll really enjoy knitting this up!

Here at the shop, we've just finished knitting our own Newsom Cardigan, and we chose Scheepjes Terrazzo yarn. It has a fantastic fleck running through it, and the colour range is just gorgeous. We heartily recommend it.

We knitted a size 37" bust using just 7 balls of Terrazzo.

Yarn

For our shop sample, we selected Terrazzo in the 'Lago' colourway, which is a lovely light turquoise. If you’re aiming for a colour similar to the designer’s original, consider something like 'Piuma'. Below, we've calculated the amount of our Terrazzo yarn you will need, depending on the size you choose to knit.

Terrazzo Yarn Requirements:

• 37" and 38 1/4" = 7 balls
• 41 - 45" = 9 balls
• 49"- 57" = 10 balls

Needles

To complete this project, you'll need the following needles:

One 80cm circular needle in size 3.75 mm

A set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size 3.75mm

A set of DPNs in size 3.25 mm

Or, use the needle size needed to obtain the following gauge:

24 stitches and 34 rows = 10 cm in stocking stitch, after blocking.

Skill Level

This pattern is best suited for knitters with an intermediate skill level.
