Introduced to France in the 16th century, French horticulturalists cultivated numerous variations, leading to its popularisation as the French marigold. But this plant is more than just pretty; this versatile and easy-to-grow flower can be dried and used as a spice, distilled into essential oils, and even used for dyeing textiles!
The design in this kit is taken from our remarkable pattern celebrating Tinctorial Plants in the Museums and Heritage collection. Embroidered using cross-stitch over two threads of fabric with two strands of Retors du Nord thread, it's an easy and enjoyable project, even for those new to cross stitch.
